unrealized artworks -with failures and unpursued raw ideas

The artworks of an artist are almost like giving birth to an idea. Starts naked and raw then becomes a mature or naïve artwork. For me as an artist my unrealized artworks, my raw ideas and failures are almost like a loss of a baby. By time I forget, I move on from all unrealized artworks and so I do not feel pain normally.
Now standing in front of my packed boxes to leave the city I live, in a very unwanted way. I had to check all of my notebooks and I had to choose which one to keep. Leaving the city, I immigrated 20 years ago and now going back to my hometown where I don’t feel I belong, became a sorrowful experience like an unwanted divorce from my artistic dreams. The journey in between the sheets and sketches through times and dreams became a mourning.
So, I decided to honor my unrealized artworks and failures.
The video also honors the sincere work of Lisa Steele’s ‘Birthday Suit – with scars and defects’, 1974.

AROUND THE TABLE

‘Around The Table’ is a performance video based on a conceptual choreography performed by performers. The roles and characters are inspired from the twelve archetypes of Jungian psychology. Although the archetypes based on a psychoanalytic notion, each character is resembling ordinary people we see and experience in everyday life. Relations, connections and confronting situations are main points within the whole performance.

Experimental video-art – 2’55” (2015)
“Loss is all about the past times that we cannot go back and live in. Once it is there, then it is gone. In this artwork my main focus was the lost time, the impossible to return.
Art, for me mainly filming, is the only way to crystalize time in frames. This way I can return, remember and re-experience lost times in a visual memory revisited.”
This work calls a way to go back in the lost time. As art allows us to travel through places, time and nature.
Seasons create cycles as circling through time. As the nature and life go on through cycles, time transforms into never ending new forms. It is relative. It is an illusion.
Are the cycles relative too? Can we travel further and back through memories, lived and yet unlived?

Clean City
Experimental Video-doc – 3′ (2015)
An experimental documentary project.
A research about old Istanbul regions where Syrian immigrants trying to live and survive. This is a sample area of the urban conditions where everyday life goes on in a contrast between clean and dirt which is metaphorically attached to the political and urban issues of modern cities. This is the city where dreams and a terrible reality encounter dramatically.
A city tells the story that everything is good, clean and clear. On the other hand, people are forced to live in unfortunate conditions and filthy places.

ARCHITROLL
Experimental video-doc – 2’29” (2017)
Highlighting a critic-political look to the modern architecture in the era of “New” Turkey, is trolled by the unsuccessful replicates of old Ottoman architecture. The religious buildings are the obvious examples of this troll architecture.
The video compares three architectural pieces. One is from Ottoman architecture where Sinan The Great Architect created ‘modern architecture’ of his time and the New Turkey troll architecture which is pretending as descendants of Ottoman while there is a contemporary architecture is going on considering the religious practice as a peaceful and sincere attitude.
